Red Cake is a gallery that acts like a store. Or a store that acts like a gallery. Either way, we believe that real live art made by real live artists is important, and that having a thin wallet shouldn’t mean having bare walls.

So Red Cake offers small, friendly art at small, friendly prices. We carry original works, limited editions, and artist ephemera, clothing, and accessories that are affordable for collectors of every price range. We also provide a venue for artists whose work is too small or unusual to be featured in commercial galleries or retail outlets.

We’re hoping to start a small revolution: when it comes to art, you can have your cake and eat it too.

Red Cake is the brainchild of two artists who felt that bigger wasn’t necessarily better.

Sherry Koyama is a mixed-media artist who has degrees in psychology and studio art from the University of California, Davis. She is the former co-director of The LAB gallery in San Francisco, and has independently curated several shows of emerging Bay Area artists.

Julia Petho is a conceptual artist who has a degree in earth systems from Stanford University and a degree in fine art from the School of the Art Insitute of Chicago. She works as a digital asset manager for an advertising agency, and has served on the board of directors at The LAB gallery.
