Brenna Burns

The subjects of this new group of paintings from Brenna Burns are at once the same and different. Neither mirror images of each other, nor superimposable, these chirals remain tied to one another through their strong physical connection. Taking it one step further (as Red Cake tends to do) they make us think of left feet and right feet, Jekyll and Hyde, motherhood, lover-hood, and for some odd reason, Mary Kate and Ashley.

Brenna, as an artist turned writer, knows how to tell a good story even when she's not using words. Her writing has been published in Bailliwik, Ink Pot, The GW Review, and Orchid. She has a BA in Biology from the University of Montana and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
